Ellison Island i remulched tge whole trail going to OA Island i love that camp when ever i am in a bad mood i go there and hike its trails. The camp is also a cheaper alternative to central park so lots of movies and tv shows are filmed there especially Law and Order. Also during 9/11 when cell towers were down the camp pouch ham radio tower was used by the red cross to coordinate work effortsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5838188789058326203.post-60233987434568868552012-07-24T20:57:48.594-04:002012-07-24T20:57:48.594-04:00Great photos. It is amazing when you are camping at night and realize, "Am I still in Staten Island?" The Boy Scouts would be lost without it.Angelanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5838188789058326203.post-92032480898884480762011-05-17T13:42:52.020-04:002011-05-17T13:42:52.020-04:00Ah...Camp Pouch. And if it was just an public park, not a camp, it would not be the same unique place. It would be another part of the Greenbelt. Also, in a sense, the camp is open to the public, not just scouts, since there is a daycamp in the summer for boys and girls to attend...Nathan Kensingerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09656749686468187212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5838188789058326203.post-28976064066135387592011-05-10T12:33:21.337-04:002011-05-10T12:33:21.337-04:00They can't expect to save it when it's not...They can't expect to save it when it's not open to the public. That's the only way to make people (who aren't scouts and campers) WANT to protect it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5838188789058326203.post-2752893335854886342011-04-29T16:31:00.832-04:002011-04-29T16:31:00.832-04:00Zalex - I know - hard to believe that this is in N...Zalex - I know - hard to believe that this is in NYC! From the pictures I would have thought it was upstate. I am interested in seeing this... is it off limits for the public during the summer?Alex Bellinkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05233761836185369020noreply@blogger.com
